In my line of work that more automation the better. I am using the Autodesk Inventor CAD based program to automate the building of out digester covers, the picture to the right is this 3d model that is run with inputs from an excell sheet. When a customer askeds for custom parts I simply plug it into the sheet I created and WHAM! the model is complete with a full set of fabrication drawings each of which we charge about $1,500! I cut my hours by 90% on any givven job making each drawing more profitable. Heres a picture of a completed model I have desinged and built for the customer:

Moved out and Got sick on Vacation!!!

The Beach is the best place on earth!!! My vacation to Cali was to see a great friend of mine that I hadn't seen in a couple years. I stayed with him at his mansion home. Seriously a mansion, I'm not exaggerating. The room I stayed in was themed to look like a tree house with vines in the private bathroom. I didn't spen much time there however instead I stayed at the beach singing a little john mayor while Tyler plated the guitar. Also, I went to the emergency room. HA! it was awesome, lets play out how that went shall we?

Tyler: Ever been to in and out burger? They have a burger with six patties on it, there is no way anyone could eat that all at once!

Me: Wanna bet? Get me 3 double stackers that's technically more that 6 patties.

......6 hours later

Doctor: the shot were giving you is 10 times more powerful than Morphine to help with the pain in your stomach.

Ha ha, enough said? IT didn't last long and it was nice when I finally did come home to go to my own place. I'm living up in Coton wood heights in a 1500 sq foot home! I love it and its a great area, actually I live across the street from "The carpet Guy."

The herb garden

At the farm this saturday we planted basil seedlings. Patricia had planted them from seeds in a container used for starting seeds. The plants were only a couple inches long. We filled up bins with a mixture of (1) part potting soil, (1) part Vermiculite, (1) part Pete Moss, and (2) parts compost. The compost was a mixture of used coffe beans, fruits, vegetables, some straw, and egg shells she had collected throughought the year snd was broken down. It's important not to over fertalize the herbs since they don't like the sttronger fertalizes like other fruit plants. It was quite a learning expirience! Amy helped me pick out some clothes and I even tried 'skinny jeans' for the first time while I was there, they turned out to not be so bad but I didn't get them. Instead I got a hat and a nblack shirt with a peace sign on the front. Amy got a dress for less the $4 that was black with white bows all over it and a black necklace. The night started out at olive Garden where we met Jodee for her birthday and Amy's brother, Jeremy. We got the soup and salad and showed off Amy's sunburn from farming that morning.

"Come see my new car!" Especially considering the beater truck that she was driving... now don't get me wrong it was a good truck, it even survived going through the drive through at mcdonalds backwards so we could pay through the passenger side window!

Dancing was amazing, I think after a few minuites we realized that we didn't care what anyone thought, Jeremy was bustin a move with his newly shaved head (long story) and Jodee broke out into Thirller at one point. As Gothic as Amy looked she definently wasn't depressed at all when Outkast told her to 'shake it like a poloroid picture!" It was a great night filled with midgets, kilts, creepy people, and a lot of great music!!! Happy birthday Jodee, HA HA!

PERFECT WEEKENDS

Since Amy and I have started dating we've had some pretty amazing weekends, most every week we get out to do something fun whether its a banquet dinner at a Jazz Game, Dressing up and going to dinner to the Most Romantic restauraunt in Utah, babysitting her niece and making stuff out of playdough, or farming and playing with honey bees at a local farm; no matter what we do we have the most amazing, relaxing and interesting weekends.

There is so much to tell in this post that I will only have time to tell a couple stories, first of all,
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v12.nonxt1.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D299903bdbfae7a32%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331040058%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D12C04906CEBA11A2FC7BB01AD81E5706BF8065DE.6534090A871F615483054A784EE471D3E97292A9%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D299903bdbfae7a32%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DXIwQdYUS0IULjDgiy72AO0jl_vM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

THE CAT:

Willaby is a cat that belongs to Ryan and Rachel, Amy's Brother and Sister-in-law. This was a new soul and so, anxious for experience.
"I am the light" it said. "I am the light"
Yet all the knowing of it and all the saying of it, could not substitute for the experience of it. And in the realm from which this soul emerged, there was nothing but the light. Every soul was grand and every soul was magnificent and every soul shone with the brilliance of God's awesome light. So the little soul was as a candle in the sun. In the midst of the grandest light, of which it was part, it could not see itself, nor experience itself as Who and What it really is.
Now it came to pass that this soul yearned and yearned to know itself. So great was it's yearning that God one day said, "Do you know little one, what you must do to satisfy this yearning of yours?"
"Oh, what, God? What? I'll do anything!" the little soul said.
"You must separate yourself from the rest of us" God answered, "and then you must call upon yourself the darkness"
"What is the darkness, o Holy One?" the little soul asked.
"That which you are not" God replied and the soul understood.
And so this the soul did, removing itself from the ' All ' going even unto another realm. And in this realm the soul had the power to call into it's experience all sorts of darkness. And this it did.
Yet in the midst of all the darkness did it cry out, "Father, Father, why hast thou forsaken me?"
God replied: "Even has have you, in your blackest times. Yet I have never forsaken you, but stand by you always, ready to remind you of Who You Really Are; ready always ready, to call you home.
Therefore be a light unto the darkness and curse it not. And forget not who you are in the moment of your encirclement by that which you are not. But do praise to the creation even as you seek to change it.
And know that what you do in the time of your greatest trial can be your greatest triumph.
For the experience you create is a statement of Who You Are - and Who You Want to Be.
Part 2
God said to the little soul, "You may choose to be any Part of God you wish to be. You are absolute divinity experiencing itself. What aspect of divinity do you now wish to experience as You?"
"You mean I have a choice", asked the little soul.
God answered, "Yes. You may choose to experience any aspect of divinity in, as and through you."
"Okay," said the little soul, "then I choose forgivness. I want to experience myself as that aspect of God called complete forgivness."
Well this created a little challenge, as you can imagine. There was no one to forgive. All God had created was perfection and love.
"No one to forgive?" asked the little soul, somewhat incredulously.
"No one," God repeated. "Look around you. Do you see any souls less than perfect, less wonderful than you?"
At this the little soul twirled around and was surprised to see himself surrounded by all the souls in heaven. They had come from far and wide throughout the kingdom, because they heard that the little soul was having an extraordinary conversation with God.
"I see none less perfect than I!" the little soul exclaimed. "Who, then, shall I have to forgive?"
Just then another soul stepped forward from the crowd.
"You may forgive me" said this friendly soul
"For what?" the little soul asked.
" I will come into your next physical lifetime and do something for you to forgive," replied the friendly soul.
"But what? What could you, a being of such perfect light do to make me wnat to forgive you?" the little soul wanted to know.
"Oh," smiled the friendly soul, "I'm sure we can think of something."
"But why would you want to do this?" The little soul could not figure out why a being of such perfection would want to slow down it's vibration so much that it could do something 'bad'.
"Simple," the friendly soul explained, "I would do it because I love you. You want to experience yourself as forgiving, don't you? Besides you've done the same for me."
"I have?" asked the little soul.
"Of course, don't you remember? We've been All Of it, you and I. We've been the Up and the Down of it, and the Left and the Right of it. We've been the Here and the There of it, and the Now and the Then of it. We've been the Big and the Small of it, the Male and the Female of it and the Good and the Bad of it. We've been the All of it."
"And we've done it by agreement, so that each of us might experience ourselves as the grandest part of God. For we have understood that...
'In the absence of that which You Are Not, that which you Are, is Not'.
'In the absence of cold you cannot be warm, in the absence of sad you cannot be happy. Without a thing called evil, the experience you call good cannot exist'.
'If you choose to be a thing, something or someone opposite to that has to show up somewhere in your universe to make that possible.' "
The friendly soul then explained that those people are God's Special Angels and these conditions God's Gifts.
"I ask only one thing in return," the friendly soul declared.
"Anything, Anything," the little soul cried. He was excited now to know that he could experience every divine aspect of God. He understood now, The Plan.
"In the moment that I strike you and smite you," said the friendly soul, "in the moment that I do the worst to you that you could ever imagine - in that self same moment...remember Who I Really Am."
"Oh, I wont forget!" promised the little soul. "I will see you in the perfection with which I hold you now, and I will remember Who You Are, always."
Authors Details: Neale Donald Walsch from Conversation with God.

Back Home!

That's right! I moved back home! Well, temporarily at least. You see to make a long story short, I need some privay and my own space. I had this roomate that was living off of me and Kelly and not making it easy to live with also. So moving into myparents house isn't bad at all!!! I'm thinkin I'll try going back to church to see if I can find happiness there again and I have a plethera of newyears goals It will help me accomplish (yes cynics, there are people who care about new years resolutions) In fact, moving in really is a big step to accomplishing more of them.

I'll be back in that apartment in a month! Which I'm excited for, Kelly is my best freind and a great roomate to have so its nice to know that the other roomate will be out by the time I get there. which means...I'll still have privacy and I"ll be able to reach my goals but no mooching roomate (:

I DESIGNED AND BUILT THIS!!!!

Mixers at Westech are designed to mix sludge. Look at it like this. Your stomach is like a 'digester' (hence the digestion system). Inside your tummy you have bacteria that breaks down what you eat to purify it, the biproduct of this process realeases methane. A digester maching is a giant tank that hold the 'sludge' (same stuff as your tummy just further down the process) its even held at the same tempurature as your stomach, 98.6 deg.

Since your stomach is lined with muscles it can move the slude around and mix it so that all the contents can be broken down evenly and run through your system correctly. Since a digester wall is solid concrete a mixer is placed at the top to keep everything nice and stirred.

This mixer HAS to be precise, it include two very expensive bearings, housing, gussents, motor, flanges, seals, ect. Everything must be machined to a .001 tolerance. when I lay this out in auto cad it can get extremely complicated and one change can effect everything else.

I detailed this about 5 months ago and the shop test went great!!! She wrote it to the tune of "I want to grow old with you" by Adam sandler. This was written on a whim it seemed.

"I wrote you a song" she said at work

"A song? Like with lyrics?" I asked excited

"Lyrics and a guitar!" She explained she wasn't finished but that she'd come over and play it for me. We got the guitar tuned that night when she came over.

"Okay, okay, don't look at me! I've gotta practice, oh and cover your ears too!"

"What?" I aksed, "but I wanna hear"

"You can unplug them in a minute, put the headphones on!"

I put my headphones on and took them off after a minute.

"Put them back on!!" This continued for some time....

"Okay," She finally said, "I'm going to start playing and when you see me hand go up then start listening"

Ha ha! Needless to say I did hear it and it is an AMAZING song! No one has ever written me one before and I wanted to gloat a little.

So here it is:

You make me want to smile
everytime I see
Those blue eyes looking right back at me
oh all I wanna do is keep lookin at you

I'll kiss you, lick you
Tickle your back when you finally win
tease you, please you
And when we play racquetball I'll let you cheat

So lets keep running up and
down the staris
I want to make sure you still fit in your underwear

Oh all I wanna do
is watch sunsets with you
And maybe go swimmin too. (:

**The picture above is Amy trying out dresses for our big date next month. We had an idea to dress up really fancy (Tux for me) to go out and eat. Just for an excuse to act and feel rich and sophisticated. (I might ask her to call me 007 throughout the night) When she went to try them on I got a text with this picture....

...
...
I know, I thought the same thing when I saw it (: GORGEOUS!!!

My Carrer

My official 'job title' is somewhat misunderstood (like most people's job title). I am a Detailer, which means that I work out all of the 'details' on Heavy equipment that is used in diffrent parts of the waste water filtration. I 'build' these machines using AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor (3d) and I work with 3 diffrent types of machines a digester: http://www.westech-inc.com/product.cfm?ItemID=129&Cat=10, a rotary distributers http://www.westech-inc.com/product.cfm?itemid=55, and a duosphere http://www.westech-inc.com/product.cfm?itemid=75 . Each one has it's own completly seperate purpose but typically you can find all of these machines at any waste water treatment plant.
My job consists of working at a large desk with 2 flatscreen monitors, I consult with engineers and other detailers to work out designs and calculations for our machines. My input is not only looked for but is expected since I am the one telling the fab shop how long to cut every peice of metal, where and what size to put each nut and bolt, how to assemble, how to operate, and any customization must be consulted with me first for any of my current jobs.

The people I work With
As I type this I'm getting ready to move to my new desk. Our group was crammed together really tightly on tables for a couple weeks so that the installers could come paint and get ready for new desks!!! I had a garage sale desk before and was crammed in what Tim, Joe, and I like to call....'the cave' its a small room with no door that the 3 of us were crammed into with some filing cabnits and our microwave. The new desks are a much needed change for sure!

Our Admin, Abbie, is pretty awesome, she keeps the group together and the best part is she was hired on with me, so we both gotta start out not knowing what these crazy engineers are talking about!

Joe is my mentor, he's been working at westech for a few years and served a mission in California, for somone with NO previous expirience he's on the ball and has caught on quickly to whats going on. He also likes to shoot rubber bands at abbie.

Tim is a seasoned detailer, he was in the navy and has a lot of knowldge on practical application for fabricating steel (that was a mouth full!) He sits next to me and has become my 'wing man' and go to guy. he also hasn't worked at westech too much longer than me, only about 8 months so we both put our minds together to figure out the best way to communicate our designs and it's amazing the things he can come up with.

Here's an intro to a few people I work with. As I look out my window and see cold wet snow falling I think to myself...Office jobs rock!

Red Tide at Night
Red Tide During the Day

Shane Egan
ENGLISH 1010
01/27/2009

Red Tide

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “If the stars should appear but one night every thousand years how man would marvel and stare.” I have seen the stars many times in my life but I didn’t know that my family’s trip to California a few summers ago would offer me to witness a something so beautiful and rare I will most likely never witness again.
My family wasn’t able to take to many vacations due to the fact I had five brothers and sisters and my parents didn’t have the income to take us on expensive trips every year. When we did go on vacation we would usually go camping in our usual spots, visit the same relatives, or drive to a neighboring state. We enjoyed and looked forward to all of our vacations as small as they may have been. It wasn’t until my three older sisters moved out that my parents were able to plan a much longer vacation with me and my two brothers to California. I was about 16 years old at the time and was excited to finally go somewhere that was different and far from home.
The trip started on a Sunday morning and was going to be one week long, the first day was going to be spent mostly driving. “Dad, can we go to the beach first, I asked?” My number one priority was to see a bright blue and green ocean; I had never seen that much water. Utah is a desert and can’t offer a view of water ‘as far as the eye could see. I had never seen the ocean but I heard it was amazing. I could see my Dad in the driver seat reach for his schedule book and open it to where he had carefully written down our plans for the day, “We’ve got to stop at the hotel and then I think we’ll take your mom to that restaurant she heard about.” “Cant we just go there first and look at it?” I thought. I didn’t say it out loud because I knew my dad had planned this trip with us for months and he was planning on sticking to the schedule so everyone could do everything we wanted to, but I still didn’t want to wait.
“Can you see it?” Dad asked squinting out the window, “See what?” I responded. “The ocean, it’s about five miles in front of us.”
“I really need my glasses; can we please just drive by it?” I was happy to hear him quickly respond that we could take a few minutes and stop by. The giant blur in the distance started to come clearer and more in focus but my disappointment didn’t set in until we were parked and standing on the dock overlooking the Pacific ocean only to see a dark, cloudy red and brown color that consumed the water starting at the shore and stretching out about a mile. I could see a distinctive line where the infected water ended and the blue ocean started. “What is this?! Did an oil liner come by and decided to dump its cargo on the beach!” I was disappointed thinking that this blue ocean didn’t exist or if it did that it was only meant to be seen by rich photographers in Hawaii. “I’ve been jipped! Let’s go to Mexico I don’t want to swim in this!” I’m sure I was a little more irritated than usual because I had planed to bring some photographs to develop in my dark room at school but I couldn’t come with pictures of this dirty red and brown ocean. If I had wanted pictures like that I would have stayed home with the irrigation canal that runs by our house.
“Let me talk to someone at the surf shop,” My mom insisted, “Maybe it’s just this shore.” “I’ll go with you!” I ran down the dock and opened the door for my mom and followed her in the shop. Behind the counter was a 60’s style teenager who looked like he had spent his life on the beach so my mom asked it like it was, “Why does the water look like someone’s toilet?”
“It’s Red Tide!” He explained, “For two weeks out of the year algae will come to the shores and collect into large enough groups that they become visible all along the shores.”
“When did it start?” My mom asked
“A couple days ago.” He replied
“What!” I sounded frustrated I’m sure, “So you’re telling me there are two weeks out of the year the ocean looks like someone crapped in it and we happen to be here for one of them?”
I could see the some customer’s lining up to make their purchases and he turned to give attention to them. “Come back here at night,” he wasn’t looking at me “right after dark come take a swim, you won’t be disappointed.”
We left and continued to complete the ‘task list of fun’ as we named my Dad’s schedule book for the trip. We had a great time too, the disappointment of the beach wore off when I started to see more palm trees and had a nice meal. We already had plans to go see the ocean at night since we hadn’t planned on stopping earlier that day and since the guy at the shop said to come back we figured we’d see what the fuss was about. I figured the only problem coming at night would solve is not being able to see any color in the water. I was never more wrong.
The sun went down and we drove to the same dock we had stopped at that day. As we began to pull up we couldn’t see anything special through the windshield. My brothers and I piled out of the car and I grabbed my camera, I was adjusting the camera lenses while we walked off the road and onto the sand. We had only taken a few steps, the ocean wasn’t more than 20 feet in front of me and I could hear the sound of the waves crashing when I looked up from my camera and froze where I stood. I saw the most unexpected, unnatural, and indescribably beautiful light in the break of the wave. I squinted, I didn’t believe light could come out of the ocean, then another wave broke. I could see again a fluorescent bar of light, bright enough to see but dim enough to want to see closer. The blue color flashed for only a few seconds but you could see it stretch down the shore as waves would break a distance away.
It was like soft lighting in the water.
We all walked closer, observing and wondering, I looked back down and kicked off my shoes and socks and suddenly the sand was wet, I was close enough to let the wave’s crash around my feet and light up a bright blue outline in the sand around my feet. “What is this?!” I reached down and put my hand in the water but no light showed anywhere around it. I shook my hand around almost hoping to see what was causing this phenomenon but at that moment the water starting shining brighter than the waves.
I noticed my brother out of the corner of my eyes writing his name in the wet sand. “Come see this! He said!” We all ran over to him kneeling down, finger in the sand, the waves were splashing over where he was writing his name and you could see a trail of light follow his finger for a couple inches and then die as his finger moved away. He was writing with light that was such an unnatural blue that I couldn’t take my eyes away. I pulled out my camera, kept the shutter open, and I knew I was going to get the most amazing photos of a truly rare event.
We stayed for hours, we watched the light around us as we swam, we stood on the dock and saw what looked like colored gases that surround a galaxy, but it was in water as deep as I could see. It was not just a blue ocean at night; it was illuminated with a color I had never seen in nature.
I have been back to the ocean since this experience but I would not have been disappointed if I had never seen it again. I will never forget the miracle I saw that day, like Ralph Waldo Emerson points out that rarity of seeing stars would add to their amazement. I do not think I could have seen anything so rare and beautiful if my dad had planned it in his book of fun.

A tribute to OLI

"Come here Oli"

She pushed her head into her back making her look like she had no neck then she started chattering her teeth

"Come on Oli you cant live under the futon you need to go back into your cage!"

Squeek, squeek! Mellissa was an answer to a prayer for that and she was very eager and excited to adopt her.

"Take Care of the ones that you love and they will take care of you"

Nikki

Kelly cleaning up Nikki's 'forget me nots" the day we went to Worldmarks vacation sales pitch.

I want to properly intorduce nikki. Nikki is the 4th roomate in our home (or 1st depending on how you look at it) and she is Kelly's official owner....not pet. She stands about 5'-0" tall when standing on her hind legs and she is DEFINETLY a girl. She's moody, livley, cuddly, and always happy. She stays up at night with her Dad and uncle Shane co on the weekends cause she doens't miss a chance to hang out with the guys. She is also very intellegent! just the other day I over heard a conversation between Kelly and Nikki about our economy that sounded like this:

Kelly, "Nikki, what do you feel needs to be done to fix the economy?"

Nikki, "Well, that's a good question, I just feel that if everyone would start fixing the bisquit famine that it would also start to solve all of our other problems....like world hunger. If everyone had bisquits to eat, we wouldn't HAVE world hunger."

Kelly, "So you feel like obama can get us out of this recession nikki?"

Nikki, "Does he have bisquits?"

Kelly, "i think so"

Nikki, "Then yes. he can solve anything"

You might be asking yourself, "wait, nikki is a dog, can she really talk." The Car auido companies, as it said in deseret news, are trying to make car audio 'cool' again. Most companies seem to move toward sound quality rather than volume which didn't seem to be the case in the past. Kelly taught me that the car dealerships don't want aftermarket equipment in their vehicles and so we may start seeing proprietary head units in new vehicles. What does that mean ? it means if you want a new radio in one of these cars you better go to the dealership cause not of the ones at Bestbuy will fit it. However, KL audi will prevail!

Trip To Vegas!!!

Recently I decided to go on an adventure to Vegas, well everytime Kelly and I make plans to party it turns out to be an adventure. This one was no diffrent! The purpous of this trip was to attend CES to get a better feel for upcoming products and poromotions for our car audio company. We got to vegas at about 2 pm on Thursaday afternoon and after getting our room we hit the $1 slots and I won $20! We cashed out and went to a buffet, it was great. That night we stayed up late and walked around freemont street (which is like the strip), I got hit on by a few prostitutes so I must have been looking good! (that was a joke)
The next morning we hit up CES and stayed till it closed, we met people from all the major companies including: panasonic, Sony, Rockford, JL Audio, and some smaller companies that are just moving here from the UK.
The confrence was HUGE! it included multiple buildings on the strip and it would be impossible to see everything in 4 days! They had each building house the booths for their respective genre of electronics. Some of the cooloest electronics that I saw coming out were, flast screen tv's less than 1/3" think and up to 72 inches! They had a wireless charging pad, you can simply place a number of devices onto a block, glossy pad and it charges the device whether ipod, laptop, cellphone, or pda! And it can charge them all at the same time!
We got prices lists and were able to meet VERY succesful people from all over the world (but mostly from Japan....come on people its a ELECTRONICS convention)
We went to CES two out of the 3 full days we were there, the other day was spent partying and just randomly walking the streets of vegas. I ended up winning about $60 gambeling for the whold trip!

Pictures coming soon....
